Biography

Raad Rawi – British actor of mixed heritage (Iraqi father, Caucasian mother), born 31 December 1969 (some sources list 1970). Raised and educated primarily in Geneva, Paris, and California. Trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and a veteran of the National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, and Royal Exchange Manchester, with four West End productions including Bombay Dreams (2002). He has been married to Kate Gartside since 1991. His most notable film roles include the Airport Security Chief in Midnight Express (1978), Aziz in Scandal (1989), Prince Thamer in The Kingdom (2007), Nathir in Traitor (2008, opposite Don Cheadle), Ahmed Zubaidi in Green Zone (2010, directed by Paul Greengrass), Fassir in Conan the Barbarian (2011), Munem in The Devil's Double (2011), Tihomir Boyanov in Spy (2015), and Gaddafi in A Private War (2018, opposite Rosamund Pike).
