If I'm recalling George Orwell's 1984 correctly, one passage in the book talked about the blandness and general awfulness of the food offered by the authoritarian state. Cabbage that stank and coffee that wasn't real coffee. I have to say I've come to feel the same way about a lot of Western entertainment in recent years. Younger me would have really liked this. Maybe? Maybe I would have known that it was just rudderless action pasted back to back. It's pretty good but I already saw this with Christina Ricci. She was a better assassin. Brother is definitely a welcome aspect of this. Never bring a machete to a katana fight is the best line in the film. I may not know because I skipped most of it.
