My wife loves the franchise... I'm 3 deep and really not seeing the appeal. But, I do like the accent, it's a rarity that you see a film with a southern accent on the lead, and that is refreshing. Especially out in Japan, or anywhere that has an American abroad. The High school thing wasn't so much my speed.
